Are You Constipated?

Constipation is one of the most common digestive issues. Bowel movements vary from person to person, from once or more a day to three times a week and sometimes weeks. Basically, you should be having bowel movements with every intake of food, one to three times per day. Constipation not only makes you feel bloated and uncomfortable but can lead to further health issues as it causes toxic build-up.
Natural Remedies for Constipation
Fiber - A diet low in fiber may play a role in constipation. Fibre gives stools bulk and a soft texture, making them easier to pass. Foods that are high in fibre include whole grains, fruits, and vegetables. Try chia seeds, brown rice, or quinoa. Another option is to sprinkle ground flaxseeds over any meal. Fiber supplements are also available. Add fiber to your diet gradually to avoid bloating and gas. Also, be sure to drink enough water otherwise fiber can have the opposite effect and be constipating.
Spring Water - Making sure you drink enough fluids especially water may help some people with constipation. Fluids make bowel movements softer and easier
Herbal Laxatives - Many herbal laxatives and "dieter's teas" include the herbs cascara sagrada, senna, aloe. These are short-term treatments.
Probiotics Probiotics are live microbial organisms (good bacteria) naturally present in the digestive tract. They promote a healthy digestive tract and improve immune function
Magnesium - A deficiency of the mineral magnesium may contribute to constipation. Magnesium is found naturally in foods such as green leafy vegetables, nuts, seeds, and whole grains and in supplements. Magnesium is needed for normal muscle function, including intestinal muscles. Magnesium supplementation helps with healthy bowel function.
Try to incorporate regular exercise and never put off the urge to have a bowel movement. The longer you delay, the more water gets absorbed from stool and the harder it becomes to have a bowel movement.
Bowel movements are as important and natural as eating stay regular!
