A healthy beginning

Innisfil Scope

Kimberley Hunter-Gafur and her husband, Alistair, have successfully avoided the rookie business wall.
After one year of owning the Alcona Beach Health Shoppe on Innisfil Beach Road, they could hardly have asked for better results. While so many new businesses face hard times and lost revenue in their start-up year, the store has continually grown in customers.
"It's past our expectations," she said. "The people coming in have been so great. We've gotten very close with everyone who has come in. New people come in everyday."
The store hosted a first anniversary celebration Saturday. The event included free food and face painting, and a tattooing station.
The store offers residents herbs, vitamins, minerals and natural health products. It has also hosted several seminars, and a visit from professional bodybuilder Scott Milne. The couple thoroughly enjoys owning the store, and providing healthy living advice to hundreds of local residents on a frequent basis.
"We've very happy we're able to help people. That's what it's all about," said Alistair. "It's more than just a business ... it's all about your customers. Kimberly has been doing a great job at educating people to help themselves. It's been an amazing year." Kimberly agrees.
"We love what we do," she said. "We know what we do. Everything in that shop, we've researched and brought in. It's the best of the best."
